Profile: Carmen and Alex's family is growing and needs some big help. When Reason to Give met Carmen she was very pregnant, with her fifth child's due date just one day after the interview. Alex Velazquez Jr. was born March 25, 2008.  

In her letter to Reason to Give, Carmen told us what her family really needs is a miracle: a new home and new car. But in the short-term a computer with a printer and clothing for all of the kids would be deeply appreciated.

With Alex on the hunt for work, and Carmen at home with their newborn son and 4 young children, the family's future is uncertain. Still, Carmen says Humboldt Park will always be home because it's a community where families stay together.
