The reason:

Natacha came to Reason to Give 7 months pregnant and desperately wanting to give her daughter a better life than she had. Natacha was recently released from DCFS care on her 21st birthday. With very little support or stability, Natacha is struggling to find work and the financial means to care for herself and her soon to be family.

Natacha spent most of her life being moved around, constantly in and out of foster care and group homes and she still lacks a stable place to live. Natacha told Reason to Give that as soon as her baby is born she plans to get a job and her own place. She also wants to go back to school for her nursing degree.

Natacha wants her baby to grow up in Humboldt Park for a while, so that she can get a greater understanding of her Puerto Rican heritage. She loves the community because it has been her home, but she worries about the violence and raising a child here.

Natacha has had to overcome a lot of hardships in her life. She is a caring and thoughtful young woman struggling to make a better life for herself and her daughter who is due July 27. Natacha asked Reason to Give for baby supplies and kitchen appliances to help her prepare for motherhood. She also needs a computer so that she can go back to school and shoes for herself. Natacha is not asking for much and is very appreciative of anything she is given.
