Shana, 30, joined Reason to Give as a student of our Live and Learn adult education series. She graduated the program in June 2012 after completing 10 months of workshops covering everything from resume writing to financial literacy to active parenting. Upon graduation, Shana received a computer for her family. Now she is in need of supplies for her baby girl, due next month, and her 7 year old son.
Shana didn't want to ask for help at first, but after seeing her struggles and dedication to the Live and Learn workshops, the other mothers in the program and Reason to Give finally talked her into doing this video. We hope to provide her family with everything they need so that Shana can celebrate bringing her daughter into the world and not be overwhelmed with how she is going to provide for her.
Shana has lived in Humboldt Park for the last four years. She is currently staying in her cousin's basement, but hopes to find work and get her own place after the baby is born. After losing both of her parents and her job, Shana found herself struggling to make ends meet. She is determined to get back on her feet and hopes to pursue an education so that her two children can attend better schools and one day go to college.
Shana currently has nothing for her baby. She is need of everything from diapers to a crib. She also needs shoes for her son and items for the home. Please help Shana provide for her family. She has worked hard as a Live and Learn Grad, but she still needs a little help to get through these tough times.
