Beatrice is thirty two years old and the single mother of two. She describes her daughter Jocelyn, 12, as quiet and a good student. Her son Orlando, 10, is outgoing and loves all sports. Beatrice and her family are currently going through some very hard times. Right now they are homeless and forced to sleep on the sofas of friends and family.
Beatrice was born and raised in Humboldt Park and loves the idea of raising her own children in the community she has grown to love. However, she wants to be able to provide them with a stable home environment. Beatrice and her children will have their own apartment next month, and she needs help furnishing their place. Unfortunately, the family lost a lot of their possessions in a fire, and now they have to start over.
Beatrice wants the best for her children and will do what it takes to ensure their success in school and life. She was referred to Reason to Give by a friend that joined our program last year, and is excited to participate in our Live and Learn workshops and community events.
Reason To Give sources high quality, sustainable goods from reputable retailers who give back to society. We buy direct from local retailers, US-based businesses, Fair Trade companies and eco-friendly brands. So while they might not be the cheapest, they're certainly the most considerate.
