Women Living with Hope struggles to fund their grass roots community group
Women Living With Hope began as a small gathering of women who all shared similar stories of survival. In the beginning the women met informally, sharing their concerns and pooling their knowledge and resources to support one another. The group was founded by Rose, a vibrant and determined woman, who lost her nephew to gang violence and Cynthia an amazing woman who is a survivor of domestic violence and dedicated to serving her community. Women Living With Hope now serves several families in the Humboldt Park community.
As a grass roots women’s group, Women Living with Hope strives to support the women in the community as much as possible, but struggles to find the necessary funds to do so. Women Living with Hope provides both emotional and monetary support to parents in Humboldt Park through their parent support groups. By participating in the Reason to Give program, these women are hoping to get help with items such as toiletries, school supplies, winter wear, cleaning supplies, and funds for transportation and groceries for the families they serve. Women Living with Hope would also like to provide parents and their children with the opportunities to go on educational day trips to favorite places around Chicago. Women Living with Hope is dedicated to supporting Humboldt Park and doing all that they can to ensure a better community for the next generation.
